About Oxford International School of Tunis

Choosing a school is not simply about choosing where a child will spend the next academic year.

It is about choosing the environment in which they will ask their first questions, discover their strengths, build friendships, face challenges and begin to imagine what their future could look like.

Oxford International School of Tunis (OIST) is an international school in the Tunis area ( located in Kram/Lac 3 ), Tunisia, providing an English-medium education and a structured Cambridge pathway from the early years through IGCSE and A Levels.

Since its founding in 2018, OIST has grown around a simple belief: students should have access to an education that connects them to opportunities beyond borders while remaining part of a supportive school community.

Here, education is not viewed as a collection of disconnected school years.

It is a journey.

“Our diverse community welcomes students from across the globe fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding Through international collaborations research initiatives, and innovation hubs we provide opportunities for students to engage with global challenges and contribute to sustainable solutions”

- Kathryn Murphy

Why OIST Was Created ?

An Idea That Began With a Question: What Could Education in Tunisia Become?

In 2018, Oxford International School of Tunis was founded in response to a growing need for accessible, high-quality English-medium international education in Tunisia.

At a time when English-language education was still limited for many families, the vision behind OIST was clear: create a school where students could develop academically in English while following an internationally recognised educational pathway.

The goal was never simply to reproduce another school model.

It was to create an environment in Tunisia where students could learn with a broader perspective, communicate confidently in English and prepare for academic opportunities both locally and internationally.

From its first students to the school community OIST is today, that purpose continues to shape our direction.

Founded in Tunisia. Connected to the world.

At OIST, students are encouraged to:
  • Communicate confidently in an English-medium academic environment.
  • Think independently rather than simply repeat information.
  • Engage with different perspectives and experiences.
  • Develop academic knowledge alongside practical learning skills.
  • Prepare for opportunities that may take them beyond their current classroom.

One Child. One Journey. Many Possibilities.

Every child's journey through school is different.

Some students join OIST at the beginning of their education. Others arrive after studying in Tunisia or abroad and need to continue their academic journey within a new environment.

What matters is not only where a student starts.

It is understanding where they are going next.

At OIST, the educational pathway is designed to provide progression across the key stages of a student's development.

Early Years

The beginning of discovery.

A place where children develop curiosity, communication, confidence and the foundations for future learning.

Cambridge Primary

The years where foundations become understanding.

Students build knowledge while learning how to question, collaborate and approach challenges with confidence.

Cambridge Lower Secondary

The transition towards greater independence.

Students encounter deeper subject knowledge and begin developing the analytical skills needed for more advanced study.

Cambridge IGCSE

The stage where interests become academic direction.

Students develop subject knowledge, examination skills and greater independence while working towards internationally recognised qualifications.

Cambridge A Levels

The bridge between school and what comes next.

Students focus on selected subjects and develop the depth, discipline and independent thinking required for higher education.

Education That Sees the Student Behind the Grades

Every Student Is More Than a Report Card

Academic results matter.

They help students, families and teachers understand progress and prepare for the next stage of education.

But a student's experience at school cannot be reduced to a single grade.

A child may discover a passion for science in a laboratory, find their voice through drama, develop resilience on the sports field or learn to lead through a collaborative project.

At OIST, academic development is supported alongside opportunities for creativity, participation, responsibility and personal growth.

We want students to leave school with knowledge.

What Guides Us

Our Values Are Not Posters on a Wall

The most important values of a school are visible in everyday moments.

They appear in how students treat one another.

In how a teacher responds when a student is struggling.

In how success is celebrated and mistakes are used as opportunities to learn.

At OIST, five values help guide our school community.

Respect

We listen, recognise different perspectives and treat others with dignity.

Integrity

We value honesty, accountability and doing the right thing, particularly when nobody is watching.

Excellence

We encourage students to take pride in their progress, challenge themselves and pursue their best possible work.

Responsibility

We encourage students to take increasing ownership of their learning, decisions and contribution to the school community.

Innovation

We remain curious, explore new ideas and encourage students to think creatively when facing challenges.
