Mission & Value
Discover the mission, vision and core values of Oxford International School of Tunis. Learn how OIST supports academic growth, confidence, responsibility and global perspectives.
Building Brilliance Together
Education is about more than what a student can remember for an examination.
It is about the confidence to ask questions. The curiosity to explore unfamiliar ideas. The resilience to keep going when learning becomes difficult. And the ability to discover not only what a student knows, but also who they can become.
At Oxford International School of Tunis, we believe that every child brings their own strengths, interests and potential into the classroom.
Our role is to help them discover it, develop it and use it with purpose.
This is what Building Brilliance Together means to us.

Our Mission
To Help Every Student Grow With Knowledge, Confidence and Purpose
Our mission is to provide a supportive, student-centred and internationally minded education where students can develop academically while growing as confident, responsible and curious individuals.
Through an English-medium learning environment and the Cambridge educational pathway, we aim to help students build strong subject knowledge, independent thinking and the skills needed to navigate an increasingly connected world.
We believe education should challenge students.
But it should also help them believe that they are capable of meeting that challenge.
At OIST, our mission is to help students:
- Learn deeply, not simply memorise information.
- Think independently and approach questions with curiosity.
- Communicate confidently and express their ideas clearly.
- Take responsibility for their learning and choices.
- Respect different perspectives in an international school community.
- Prepare for what comes next, from the next stage of school to university and beyond.
Building Brilliance Together
No Child’s Journey Is Built Alone
Behind every student’s journey is a community.
Teachers provide knowledge, guidance and challenge.
Parents contribute support and partnership.
Students bring their own ideas, effort and curiosity.
And the wider school community creates the environment in which all of this can happen.
Building Brilliance Together reflects our belief that meaningful education is collaborative.
We do not see students as passive recipients of education.
We encourage them to participate in their learning, ask questions, take responsibility and gradually become more independent as they move through each stage of school.

Our Vision
Our vision is to continue developing OIST as a trusted international school in Tunis, Tunisia, where students can access a structured educational pathway while growing in confidence, knowledge and independence.
We aim to create an environment where academic ambition and personal development work together—where students are encouraged to achieve high standards without losing their curiosity, creativity or sense of individuality.
Our ambition is not simply to prepare students for their next examination.
We want to help prepare them for the choices and opportunities that follow.
Vision
What We Want Every OIST Student to Carry Forward

We want them to carry forward:
- The confidence to contribut : To share ideas, ask questions and participate.
- The curiosity to keep learning. : To remain interested in the world and open to new knowledge.
- The independence to make decisions : To take ownership of their work, choices and future.
- The resilience to face challenges :To understand that progress often requires effort, adaptation and persistence.
- The perspective to understand others. The perspective to understand others :To recognise that different experiences and viewpoints can help us see the world more clearly.
Our Core Values
The Principles That Shape Everyday Life at OIST
Values only matter when they influence how people behave.
At OIST, our values are reflected in classrooms, conversations, school activities and the relationships between students, teachers and families.
They guide not only what we expect from our students, but also how we work together as a school community.
Respect
Every Voice Deserves to Be Heard
Our community brings together people with different experiences, cultures, languages and perspectives.
We encourage students to listen carefully, communicate thoughtfully and treat others with dignity.
Respect means recognising that we do not need to be identical to learn from one another.
At OIST, respect is something we practise every day.
Integrity
Doing the Right Thing Matters
Knowledge without integrity has limited value.
We encourage students to be honest, accountable and responsible for their actions.
Integrity is reflected in how students approach their academic work, how they treat others and how they respond when mistakes are made.
A strong education should develop not only capable learners, but trustworthy individuals.
Responsibility
Independence Begins With Ownership
As students grow, they are encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their learning and decisions.
This may begin with simple routines for younger learners.
Over time, it develops into managing academic work, meeting commitments, responding to feedback and making informed choices about future pathways.
Responsibility is not something that appears overnight.
It is developed, practised and strengthened over time.
Excellence
Progress Matters. Effort Matters. Growth Matters.
Excellence does not mean that every student follows the same path or achieves the same outcome.
It means encouraging each learner to take their education seriously, challenge themselves and strive for meaningful progress.
Sometimes excellence is achieving a high academic result.
Sometimes it is finally understanding something that once felt impossible.
Sometimes it is having the courage to try again.
We celebrate achievement, but we also value the journey that leads to it.
Innovation
Curiosity Creates Possibility
The world our students will enter is constantly changing.
That is why education must leave room for curiosity, creativity and new ways of thinking.
We encourage students to question assumptions, investigate problems and explore possible solutions.
Innovation does not always mean inventing something completely new.
Sometimes, it begins with a simple question:
“Is there another way to do this?”
Our Values in Action
Our values are not separate from school life.
They can be seen when:
- A student listens to a perspective different from their own.
- A teacher encourages a learner to try again.
- A student takes responsibility for a mistake.
- A young learner asks a question nobody else has considered.
- A team works towards a shared goal.
- A student discovers the confidence to stand up and share an idea.
These moments may appear small.
But over time, they help shape how students learn, interact and grow.
